The Hyde County Waterfowl Association purchased 15 acres on Highway 94 just before the entrance to the Mattamuskeet Lodge and Wildlife Refuge to provide a space for waterfowl meetings, activities, special events and community needs.
In September of 2008 a planner was hired to begin developing construction options, coordinating uses with the Mattamuskeet Lodge and local county groups and produce an comprehensive plan.
Detailed information is expected to be posted in October 2009.
